Power BI Theme Collection

26 ready-made Power BI themes. Or build your own.

About this collection

Every theme here is a complete, valid Power BI theme JSON file: 8 data colors, background and text colors, status colors for KPIs (good/neutral/bad), a 3-stop color scale (minimum/center/maximum), and basic visual styling for pages, cards, tables and slicers. Click a theme to open a bigger preview, or use the buttons on any card to download the file, copy its JSON, or copy just the hex codes.

Want a custom theme instead of one of these? Use the free Power BI Theme Generator to design your own from scratch, or open any theme's bigger preview here and click "Customize this theme in the Theme Generator" to start from it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I import a theme into Power BI?

Download the theme's .json file from this page, open your report in Power BI Desktop, go to the View ribbon, click Themes, then Browse for themes, and select the file you downloaded. Power BI applies it to every visual immediately.

Can I edit a downloaded theme?

Yes. A theme file is plain JSON text, so you can open it in any text editor and change colors by hand, or click "Customize this theme in the Theme Generator" on any theme's preview to adjust it visually and download your own version.

Do these themes work in Power BI Service?

Yes. Once a theme is applied to a report in Power BI Desktop and published, it's part of the report and displays the same way in Power BI Service.

What does "colorblind-friendly" mean for a theme?

The colorblind-friendly themes use the Okabe-Ito palette, a set of colors chosen to stay visually distinct for the most common forms of color blindness (deuteranopia, protanopia and tritanopia), and avoid relying on red vs. green alone for status indicators like good/bad.
